All-Star week is here. Tonight is the Homerun Derby. It is defiantly more popular than the game itself. It will be fun to see how many homeruns are hit into the bleachers at Yankee Stadium tonight.

The End is Near
This week marks a start to a long and sad progress as demolition work has began on Tiger Stadium. It has been nearly 18 years since the last classic ballpark, Comiskey Park was demolished. Other stadiums have been demolished since 1990, but done with the history that Tiger Stadium has. The stadium has basically sat empty since 1999 with the exception of a few events. It is structurally in good conditions, however most of the stadium will be demolished over the coming months. Part of the stadium, from dugout to dugout will remain and the site, as of right now, will be turned into a baseball field for youth and others. We will document the demolition of the stadium on our site as soon as pictures become available. The main demolition work isn't expected to begin until after the holiday weekend.
As for new stuff on the website. We have a new monthly feature on our homepage, This Month in Ballpark History. Every month we will post a piece of ballpark history to relieve a certain date in baseball ballpark history. Other updates include new pictures and information to the future Yankee Stadium, Twins Ballpark and Citi Field.
